About Percheron Mares:
The Percheron is a French breed of draft horse that originated in the Huisne river valley in western France, part of the former Perche province. Percherons were originally bred as war horses in medieval times, carrying knights in full armor into battle. They're known for their intelligence, willingness to work, and surprisingly elegant movement for such large horses. Percheron mares typically stand 16-17 hands high and weigh 1,800-2,600 pounds! Despite their size, they're known for their gentle, calm temperament. Grey (which includes dapple grey) is the most common color, though black Percherons also exist. These versatile horses excel in driving, logging, farm work, and even dressage. Percheron mares are excellent mothers and pass on their strength and gentle nature to their foals.
