The Gypsy Vanner (also known as Irish Cob, Gypsy Cob, or Tinker Horse) is a breed developed by the Romani people of Ireland and Great Britain. These beautiful horses were bred to pull the colorful caravans of traveling families, so they needed to be strong, gentle, and have calm temperaments. Gypsy Vanner mares are known for their abundant feathering (long hair on the lower legs), flowing manes and tails that often reach the ground, and striking pinto coloring. Piebald (black and white) is one of the most prized color patterns. Mares typically stand 13-15 hands high and are incredibly strong for their size. They're known for their gentle, willing nature and make excellent family horses. The breed wasn't officially recognized until the 1990s but has quickly become popular worldwide for its beauty, versatility, and wonderful temperament!
