About Ardennes Stallions:
The Ardennes is one of the oldest breeds of draft horse, originating in the Ardennes region straddling France, Belgium, and Luxembourg. These horses are mentioned in ancient Roman texts and were used by Julius Caesar's armies! Ardennes are known for their incredible strength despite their relatively compact size—they typically stand 15-16 hands but are extremely powerful and hardy. The breed was used extensively in agriculture and as war horses, capable of carrying knights in full armor. Ardennes stallions are known for their gentle, willing temperament and exceptional endurance. They have thick, muscular bodies with feathering on their lower legs. Bay is one of the most common colors, creating a classic, striking appearance. These horses are still used today for farm work, forestry, and meat production in Europe.
